A research-based plan to fund our schools and help all kids succeed

In 2018, the School Finance Research Collaborative produced Michigan’s first comprehensive school adequacy study. The study determined the true cost of educating a child and provided the roadmap to fixing Michigan’s broken school funding approach.

Gov. Whitmer has proposed a 2020 budget that embraces several key findings of the study, including a weighted formula for:

  • Special education
  • At-risk students
  • Career and Technical Education

Gov. Whitmer’s budget proposal is a significant step in the right direction toward fixing Michigan’s broken school funding approach and helping Michigan’s kids succeed.
